Dandelion Coffee

Ingredients

Dandelion Coffee

  • 1tsp roasted dandelion root per cup

  • 200ml boiling water

  • Plant milk, e.g. oat, almond, cashew, coconut (optional, shop bought or home-made – see below for the ingredients and recipe for almond or cashew)

Plant Milk

  • Handful of almonds or cashew nuts (preferably soaked in water for 4 hours)

  • 250ml water

  • Pinch of Himalayan salt (optional)

  • 1 date (optional)

Equipment

  • Sieve or a cafetière

  • Milk frother (optional)

  • Blender (for making the plant milk)

Instructions​

Dandelion Coffee

  • Boil the water

  • Place the dandelion root into the cafetière

  • Pour the water over the dandelion root

  • Leave to stand for 3 minutes

  • Press down the cafetière plunger

  • Enjoy your coffee black or have it like a flat white by simply adding plant milk or make it cappuccino style by adding frothed milk

Plant Milk

  • Place all the ingredients into a blender

  • Blend for 2 minutes

  • Sieve the mixture to remove any remaining nut pieces

  • The strained plant milk can be kept refrigerated
